Apply to City Smart Scholars

Entry to the City Smart Scholars program begins in 5th grade. The program is intended for students from communities that are under-represented in New York City’s selective high schools, particularly from Black and Latino communities and those whose moderate and low-income families cannot afford private tutoring. The program is for New York City students, with a particular focus on schools in Districts 3 thru 10.

The program meets in East Harlem on Saturdays, and for five weeks over the summer.

While most students enter in spring of 5th grade, there are openings for students who qualify for the Hunter College High School admissions test in fall of 6th grade and for a small number of 7th grade students in spring and fall.
